Blog: Gables High student coordinates auction for Alabama tornado relief
My name is Larissa Weinstein, and I am a senior in the IB program at Coral
Gables Senior High. I help to run a purse company in Manhattan called
Anabelle by Marcia Sherrill, and I started the company's philanthropic
initiative, Carry for Hope.
What began as a breast cancer initiative took a drastic turn when tornadoes devastated Alabama, home state of our designer Marcia Sherrill. In order to do our part, I have been hard at work planning a charity auction called Fashion Targets Tornadoes. This project is sponsored by Anabelle by Marcia Sherrill through Carry for Hope.
Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) member designers were offered the opportunity to decorate blank canvas versions of one of our most popular totes, and we are auctioning them on eBay to raise money for the American Red Cross. Our aim is to help in providing relief for tornado victims in Alabama.
Designers including CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg, Rebecca
Taylor, Nanette Lepore, and Max and Lubov Azria grace the list of
participants.
Please check out www.ebay.com/fashiontargetstornadoes and bid
