World Languages students in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at Ponce de Leon Middle School researched countries on all continents most affected by the problem of homelessness, and became more familiar with international humanitarian organizations that make a difference world-wide.

Students identified some causes at the root of the problem; learned about international efforts conducted in various countries to decrease homelessness; and used their critical thinking skills to reflect upon possible solutions.

I am an optimist who feels that from these trying times, great works of art will be produced – poetry, novels, plays, music, dance, paintings, photographs, film – all forms will emerge and from unlikely sources as people look within for creative outlets. From the pathos, great beauty.
