Junior Orange Bowl honors student photographers
The Junior Orange Bowl Committee (JOBC) honored the work of student photographers at the JOBC Pitman Photo Supply Photography Contest awards ceremony at the Coral Gables Museum on Friday night, March 30.
Thirteen students received awards for winning photos, which were chosen from over 450 entries, in five categories including, black & white, night photography, patterns, zoo animals, and a middle school division.
Amanda Mastrapa, a student at Doral Performing Arts and Entertainment, won the award for Best Portfolio, which is given to the photographer who demonstrates the most coherent style among his or her photographs in each category. Miss Mastrapa also finished first in the Black & White and Night Photography categories.
Daniel Dylan Alvarez, from Coral Reef High School, won first place in the Patterns category. Aidon Milligan from Arthur & Polly Mays Conservatory of the Arts won first place in the Zoo Miami category, and Gianna Ohms-Rosell from South Miami K-8 Center received first place in the middle school division.
The judges for this year’s contest were Ron Magill, photographer and Goodwill Ambassador for Zoo Miami; gallery owner and professional fashion and scenic photographer Daniel De Azoulay; photographer and art buyer Kay Levine; Miami Herald staff photographer Al Diaz; and Dr. Randall Groh, a partner of Dental Leaders in Coral Gables as well as a scenic and wildlife photographer. Dr. Groh also chaired the event.
